Neurology is a field of medicine that deals with the study and treatment of disorders of the nervous system. The nervous system consists of the brain, spinal cord, and sensory organs; along with the nerves that connect those organs with the rest of the body.

The nervous system, has two major division, and is a complex, sophisticated system that regulates and coordinates body activities. The brain and spinal cord make up the central nervous system, while all other neural elements are part of the peripheral nervous system.

Neurologists are doctors who have undergone extensive training and who specialize in the study of neurology.
